Artificial intelligence has managed to infiltrate every part of our lives. It has reached the very core of social media applications. Meta also embeds artificial intelligence into popular social media applications under its umbrella. Meta is so involved in artificial intelligence that it pours almost all its resources into it. She formed a big team for this. Then he developed and strengthened this team. Meta subsequently disbanded the Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) team. Here are the details…
Meta disbanded the Responsible AI team!
Many of the Responsible AI (RAI) members will transition to the company’s productive AI product team. Others will work on Meta’s artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company regularly says it wants to develop artificial intelligence in a controlled way. It even created a page where the company lists the “pillars of responsible AI,” including accountability, transparency, security, privacy, and more.
RAI operates with a view to preventing things like moderation issues on their platforms. Meta RAI created its team to identify issues with AI training approaches, including whether its models were trained with enough diverse information.
Jon Carvill, who represents Meta, made a statement on this issue. In his statement; ”The company will continue to prioritize and invest in the development and use of safe and responsible AI,” he said. The company divided its team. But despite this, he added that members “will continue to support relevant cross-commodity efforts on responsible AI development and use.”
This team already underwent a restructuring earlier this year. Meta turned RAI into “the shell of a team”. He even laid off some staff for this restructuring. Additionally, this team has been operating since 2019. Meta warned that the RAI team had little autonomy and should be careful before implementing their initiatives.
At the beginning of this year, the moves of Microsoft, Meta and similar companies began to frighten the world. World governments have raced to create regulatory guardrails against the dangers of artificial intelligence. It has made deals with the US government and artificial intelligence companies. Later, US President Biden instructed them to create artificial intelligence security rules. The European Union published artificial intelligence principles. They are also working to pass the Artificial Intelligence Act.
